Heronswood Childcare Centre is a family run, modern, purpose built facility providing quality childcare in a secure, nurturing and engaging environment. It developed from First Steps Preschool which began in 1984 and the Centre opened in January, 2005.
Our dedicated team encourages the physical, emotional and intellectual growth of the children in our care. We have a proven record in childcare and our vision is to continually improve our facilities and to develop and implement progressive programmes of care for children aged between 3 months and 12 years
Our Centre and programmes comply with Siolta and Aistear which are the national frameworks for quality in all areas of childcare. Aistear is the early childhood curriculum framework for all children from birth to six years.

Our Centre
Our Centre is large, very bright and designed, in every feature, to ensure the safety and security of your child. The building is equipped with CCTV and a fingerprint system operates at the points of entry both downstairs and upstairs. These control the entry of everyone to the building and only authorised persons will gain entry through the doors.
Outside we have a very large playground featuring safety matting, bright colourful play and climbing equipment and lots of space to allow the children freedom of movement. We also have a sensory garden – this is a beautiful, relaxing area which is planted with different flowers and shrubs that stimulate the senses. Each plant was carefully chosen and the children love to immerse themselves in the various scents, textures and colours. Our ‘Garden of Grace’ is a very special place that is calming and tranquil.
